I was born in Coon Rapids and have lived in the north metro my entire life. Raised by a single teenage mother, along with the help of my grandparents, they raised me to believe in three things: to work hard, have compassion for those in need, and give back.
I attended Coon Rapids High School until transferring to the Secondary Technical Education Program (STEP), a career and technical education high school in Anoka through Anoka Technical College, where I learned the skills necessary to begin a career in information technology and computer networking.
Although college was out of reach for me financially, my experience at STEP would soon prove invaluable. When our childhood home was lost on the eve of the financial meltdown of 2008, I doubled down and often worked two or three jobs at a time to pay the rent and gain the skills needed to build my career.
I've been working for Spring Lake Park Schools as a district technology specialist for almost ten years, and live in The Lakes of Blaine with my wife and high school sweetheart Jill, a veterinary technician, and our two-year-old daughter Clara. We bought our home in Blaine seven years ago because we knew that Blaine was a growing, vibrant community where we would love to raise our family.
I've always believed in the virtues of public service and civic engagement. I've worked as an organizer and volunteer in multiple political campaigns, from local races to the presidential level, and I've had the pleasure of meeting thousands of voters from every party and background to talk about the issues that matter the most to them. I believe in the power of grassroots organizing to make real, lasting change happen in the community. I've also volunteered for various organizations including the Panther Foundation, Kids First, and Feed My Starving Children. I'm also involved in the Twin Cities theater community as a playwright, performer, and producer. I enjoy film, theater, camping, volunteering, and reading.
I'm running for the Minnesota House of Representatives because I believe the residents of Blaine, and every Minnesotan, deserves a legislator that will show up to work for them. I believe that all Minnesotans deserve a fair shot at living the dream of health, happiness, and security for themselves and their loved ones. I look forward to listening to the voters of Blaine to hear their concerns during this campaign, and I hope to earn your support.
