Run for Something endorses Brandon Taitt
Progressive wave builds momentum with new candidates in Minnesota

Jan. 18, 2018 - Run for Something (RFS) is building off the successes of 2017 and announcing its first endorsements of 2018, along with our new strategic plan. These 61 candidates will be strong voices in the next generation of progressive leadership. In Minnesota, RFS is excited to endorse Brandon Taitt for the Minnesota House of Representatives.

"It is truly an honor to be endorsed by Run For Something," says Taitt. "The success of their young progressive candidates in 2017 proves that they can be an invaluable resource in helping us make a difference in areas like quality education, affordable health care, and good jobs and fair wages as we work toward stronger diversity, equality, and accountability in politics at every level."

“These first time candidates all have the heart and hustle that is so important to us at RFS, and we are proud to give them our endorsement,” said Ross Morales Rocketto, co founder of Run for Something. “Put simply, they are the type of people we think the Party needs and the type of candidates who are going to work hard. They are knocking on doors and stepping up to run grassroots, community-led campaigns.”

The endorsement process, which began in October, includes an extensive internal review with background check, staff interview and insight from local state experts. The 61 new candidates are joining 28 previously endorsed 2018 candidates, totaling 89 RFS candidates in 2018 elections.

January endorsement numbers:
61 candidates from 27 states
Campaign budgets range from $3000 to $300,000
Win numbers range from 645 to 30,000 votes.

So far, more than 15,000 young people from across the country have signed up as candidates and gained access to Run for Something resources. Of those, 120 were officially endorsed in 2017. 72 ran in November 2017; nearly half of them won.
